Footwear designer chantal marshall’s knack
for the art of shoe/sneaker design; developed from a genetic approach, “I
always sketched, all my mother’s children have an artistic talent, I am the
only one out of 4 older boys who is making a career out of it. My mother
is artistic too, very talented”, states Marshall. Her aspiration to pursue
designing, outset when she was 12 years old following into her sophomore year
of college.
Marshall marvels a famed thread of sneaker design
pioneers “I admire Nike, Adidas and Converse; because for centuries they have
remained current and classic with much diversity”. She plans to strand
behind her laced legacy for the fresh generation to come, “My long term goal is
to create a prospering brand to be here on this universe, diversifying as its
growing. I want my brand to be here when I am gone and stay here when my great,
great, great, great, great grandchildren are here”. Chantal’s words of advice
for striving designers─ “Feel it first, plan, execute, do not listen to the
ones who say you can’t, and stay focused”.
solely created:
I felt like fashion designers who did clothing were not and are not getting their proper respect. People who know nothing about fashion and have a clothing line, take money and slap a name on a shirt, thinking they’re a fashion designer. You can’t do that with shoes. Your mind has to be artistically driven; you have to understand the anatomy of the foot. You have to know architecture and build. That's why I chose shoes first, also no other female has carried a footwear brand self made with sneakers, that will aim to women, than unisex. I am her.
