As much as we dream daily about the future, in actuality we are presently living in it. Fashion is unquestionably a product of the future, what you wear today, will become a retrospect of tomorrow. Omar Walden, director of marketing, executes this premise through his partnership in the futuristic clothing line, RoboticSole; his two colleagues are Patrice C., founder and CEO, and R. Diego, graphic designer.  The line launched in 2011 through a mutual love for fashion, music and sneakers. The brand urbanized its clothing around four robotic characters. “RoboticSole's vision is to creatively cater to all walks of life through our Robot characters. Each character is designed after a certain lifestyle that encompasses all generations.”

Their specialty pieces are t-shirts, crew neck sweaters, tank tops, beanies, snap-backs and accessories.  The labels mission:  “RoboticSole plans to set a name for itself by being creative; but, most importantly, Different!  RoboticSole is a Faceless, Diverse and Creative movement that prides itself in shying away from the norm!” When it comes to an actual retail store selling the brand, Omar emphasizes; “Our ultimate goal is to own our own store. We're not too interested in retail. We feel that in some cases being too accessible takes away from the brand. We want to continue to be exclusive.”  Walden invites us into the future of fashion with his narrative on how he teamed up with his Sole mate, in addition to his candid cleverness.

Futuristic Rebels:

The name RoboticSole came from us wanting the brand to yes, have that futuristic flair. We like to think of ourselves as the “futuristic rebels” of fashion, hence Robotic. We (my partner and I) also share the same love for sneakers and exclusive footwear so of course Sole was incorporated. During our 4 years at Virginia State University, there were many up and coming brands. I actually interned for another company who wasn't allowing me to have creative input. I'd run to Patrice, who is now my partner discussing certain marketing strategies and ideas that I had, with her. She was already in the process of designing the first RoboticSole tee and felt that I'd be a great asset to the brand and at a NYC lounge we met, shook hands, and became the founders of “RoboticSole.

Photography over the past few years has become a passion of mine. I've always been a visual person who enjoyed capturing people, places and things. I'm still somewhat of a novice with a lot to learn but I think that I have a great eye, a great way of enhancing an average everyday moment and adding character to the more eventful and/or memorable moments. Here are two of my latest images. The first image is of my sister Ty-Kesha Hollman, taken with a Nikon D3100 in Petersburg VA. I just wanted to capture her in her element. She actually had no idea that I was shooting her, that plus the rising smoke made the image that much better. The second image is of my beautiful wife to be Samantha Johnson. On our way to Alvin Ailey in NYC I asked her to turn around and I got this great shot of her. The admiration in her eyes is what I was intrigued by.
